Faxing

·I get a No Response to Command or timeout error when receiving or sending a fax:
This is due to either a bad initialization string or failure to communicate with the modem.
Make sure there is not another application or another Call Soft using the modem. Many times applications like Microsoft fax and PC Anywhere will prevent Call Soft from using the modem during fax operations.
Make sure you have the proper COM port defined on the fax tab in setup e.g. click the "Port" button to verify.
That didn't work:
Set the fax class to class 1.
Set the fax initialization string for receiving and sending to ATV1&C1&D2
That didn't work:
It's very possible your modem is not using hardware error correction by default. With most modems this needs to be set prior to Call Soft connecting to your modem. Call Soft can't do this for you, instead you will have to.
Do this:
1. Close Call Soft or disconnect it from your modem.
2. Double click the Phone and Modems icon in the Windows Control Panel. Get the properties for your modem.
3. Go to the Advanced tab or find the "Extra initialization commands:" option and add &K3.

4. Run Call Soft.

That didn't work:
Consider another modem. The problem is associated with your modem not being initialized correctly for flow control. Call Soft uses a default initialization string that will work with most modems. However, some modems do not initialize correctly using this string thus another string is required. What this string is will vary from modem to modem.

·I get a Invalid Fax File error when trying to send a fax.
This can be caused by either a bad or missing cover page or fax file. First un-check the "Send cover page" on the send fax dialog window. If this fixes the problem either specify another cover page file or replace them with the originals via this URL: ftp://www.toscoffice.com/faxcovers.zip. Extract the files into Call Soft Fax Covers directory e.g. c:\program files\Call Soft\Fax Covers.
That didn't work:
If you still get the error even after turning off the send cover page option, remove all the faxes in the faxes to send list and reprint your documents.

·When sending a fax I get an error saying something about can't get filename.
Make sure Call Soft is running when you print to Call Soft Fax.
That didn't work:
Click the Windows start button go to setting then click on the Printer icon. Right click on Call Soft Fax and select properties. Go to the Ports tab and make sure it's set to CallSoft and the Description says DataTechFAX Port.

·I am unable to install the send fax print drivers in Windows 2003 Server.
Windows Server 2003's default security settings will not allow installation of the printer drivers because support for Kernel Mode Drivers is disallowed. Attempting to install the drivers will result in following error: AddPrinter Failed: Err=1930

Resolution
To enable support for Kernel Mode Drivers:

Open Group Policy.
Under Local Computer Policy, double-click Computer Configuration.
Double-click Administrative Templates, and then double-click Printers.
Right-click "Disallow installation of printers using kernel mode drivers", and then click Properties.
On the Setting tab, click DISABLED, and then click OK.

Now try installing the printers again.
