Speech Troubleshooting

·I can't hear Call Soft speak through my computer's speakers.  
Click the option button on Call Soft's main window and go to the speech tab.  
1.   Do you have the option "Yes I want to use speech" checked?  
2.   Is the volume up on your computers speakers?  
3.   Click the system tab in Call Soft's setup and select another output device (should use "Default" but try using another).  
4.   Try using another voice.  
5.   Try switching speech version.  
6.   Click the speech icon in Control Panel, go to the Text To Speech tab, click the audio output button and make sure "Use preferred audio output device" is checked.  
 
·I can hear Call Soft speak through my computer's speakers but I can't hear it when I call.  
1.Do you have the option "Yes I want to use speech" checked?  
2.Try another voice. Some voices may not be designed to handle the required 8khz 16bit mono format.  
3.Click the speech icon in Control Panel, go to the Text To Speech tab, click the audio output button and make sure "Use preferred audio output device" is checked.  
 
·If using speech version 5 and you still can't get Call Soft to speak through the modem.  
On the speech tab in Call Soft's setup do you see "Microsoft Mike" in the list of voices?  
Yes  
Select and use it as your voice. The voice your trying to use probably does not handle 8khz 16bit mono.  
If you do and still have trouble switch to speech version 4.

We suggest downloading Microsoft's speech SDK 5.1 or higher. This will install the proper speech files including the "Microsoft Mike" voice. Visit our speech page http://www.mycallsoft.com/callsoft/speech.html for a link to the Microsoft's site.  
 
·Using Microsoft speech version 4.  
If you don't have Microsoft speech version 5 installed on your system or can't get version 5 to work then try version 4. We have the files you need on our Web. See this URL for more information: http://www.mycallsoft.com/speech.html
