| Just because your modem supports speakerphone does not mean you can just use it.
| It's likely you will have to plug a speaker and microphone into the back of the modem.

| Modems that support speakerphone use one of these methods for audio in and out.
| 1. A separate speaker and microphone that plugs into the back of the modem. You can easily tell if your modem requires this by looking on the back of the modem. If you see two holes that look like earphones plugs then you will need to plug a speaker and microphone into the appropriate ports.
| 2. Using the computer's speaker and microphone by using a connector called a TAD. This is a wire that connects the modem directly to the sound card. This way the modem pipes the audio data directly to your sound card.
| 3. Using the computers speaker and microphone by using software to route audio data to and from your computer's speaker and microphone. The COMP USA $20 FMI modems do this but there is a slight delay using this method.
