Ring Tab
Previous  Top  Next

The Ring tab is where you define the default ring to answer on and other options specific to when the phone is ringing.

We say default ring because it's possible a call may be answer on another ring... why?
1. The caller may be in your phonebook and you may have it set to answer on a specific ring.
2. You could be using distinctive ring and have it set to answer on a specific ring when that ring pattern is detected.
If you don't know why a call was answered on a particular ring check the "What Happened" log.

Call Soft determines the ring to answer on in this order.
1. If your using distinctive ring and a pattern is found, the ring to answer on define in the ring pattern is used unless the option "Use Default (leave alone)" is selected.
2. If the caller is in the phonebook and a specific ring to answer on is set.
3. If your using ring schedules the first schedule that is active and the ring to answer on defined in it will be use.
4. The default ring to answer on as defined on the ring tab i.e. here.

·When the phone rings play or say this:
1.Ringer sound. This is simply the sound you want played to emulate the phone ringing and it's played on every ring. If you don't want Call Soft to play this sound until a certain ring number has been reached you can specify that also.
2.Also say who is calling as soon as possible: This will be played through your computers speakers as soon as the caller is known. This is usually immediately after receiving caller ID. You can use tags such as <name> and <number> to identify the caller. This is different from the Ringer sound because it is played only once. So if you want to say the caller's name twice simply use two <name> tags.
The default message is: <name> is calling from <number>
The text in brackets <> are tags and will be replaced with information pertaining to the call.
