Recording A Greeting

| Each mailbox has it's own greeting. To define this greeting simply right click on the mailbox and select properties. The mailbox properties dialog will appear.

| Recording a greeting.

| Your greeting can be either a wave file you record or a text file if you want your greetings to be spoken using TTS (Text To Speech).

| To record a new greeting click the New button. You will be asked if you want to create a Wave File or Text File. Click the Wave File button.

| Call Soft will automatically want to name the wave file using the mailbox's name, you can, of course, change it if you wish. In either case click the OK button. The Record Wave File dialog window will appear.

| To record your greeting first make sure your computer's microphone is turned ON then click the Record button and begin speaking. When you are finished click the Stop button.

| When your finished recording you will notice some attributes about the recorded greeting such as the filename, it's format, size and length. To hear the greeting click the Play button. If you are satisfied with the greeting we recommend clicking the Normalize button. This will boost the gain (volume) of the greeting to it's highest level to ensure a caller hears it without effort. When you are finished click the OK button. The greeting file now appears on the mailbox properties window.

| If you ever need to record over this greeting or want to hear it click the Edit button.

| Using TTS (Text To Speech) for greetings.

| You need to have speech enabled to use this feature.
|
| It's possible to type your greetings and have the TTS engine speak the greeting. To do this first create a new text file by clicking the New button. When asked what type of file to create click Text File button. Call Soft will automatically want to name the text file using the mailbox's name, you can, of course, change it if you wish. In either case click the OK button. The Edit Text dialog window will appear.

| By default "Hello, we are not at home, so please leave a message after the beep. Bye bye." will appear in the window. You can change the text to whatever you want. You can also use speech tags to make your greetings more powerful. To see a list of tags click the Show tags button. To see an example of using speech tags click the Default button. To test your greeting click the Speak button. When you are finished click the OK button.

| Note: You don't have to always create a text file. If you wish you can simply type the message where the file name would go. However, if you try to click the browse button but no dialog box appears remove the text from the greeting box and try again.
