Remote Messaging
Previous  Top  Next

The remote access tab defines how you want to check your messages from another phone and allows you to modify the text Call Soft uses to present your messages. Of course the text is only used if you have speech enabled.

To access the mailbox properties dialog right click on any mailbox, in the mailbox tree view, and select "Properties"

Access Tab:
This is where you specify how to retrieve your messages from another phone. You can also specify how to navigate through your messages.

·Your access code: If you want the ability to check the messages in this mailbox enter the sequence of keys needed to do so. You should use at least a 3 digit code for security reasons and to minimize the risk of the code conflicting with going to another mailbox or some other remote option.
To check your messages simply call in, go to the mailbox you want to check message for and enter the code you specified here.

·I want to hear message from these mailboxes: If you want to check messages for more than this mailbox highlight those mailboxes you want to check messages for.

·If Call Soft notifies me of a call via phone this is what I want to hear when I answer (requires speech): If you have Call Soft notify you of calls by calling you on another phone, this is what Call Soft will play or say so that you know who it is when you answer the phone. You can just type the text you want to hear or specify a wave for text file. If using text(recommended) the <#messages> will be replaced with "have no messages" or "have one message" or "have X messages" where X is the number of messages you have. <rewind> will be replaced with the value you specify in the "To rewind the current message". The rewind is used because when pressed will start the first message. Note: If you specify a wave or text file and click the Speak button to test it, you will not hear the wave or text file. Instead you will hear the file name spoken. This will not happen in reality.

·When checking messages this is what I want to hear prior to playing the message: When you check messages you will hear a description of the call prior to hearing the actual message. It's here you define what you want to hear. There are 9 tags you can use: <msg#> this will tell you the position of the message in the list of all messages you have. <mailbox> if you are checking messages from more than one mailbox this tag will be replaced with the mailbox name the message came from. <type> indicates if the call was a voice or fax call. <name> the caller's name <number> the caller's number. <date> the date the call was received. <hour> the hour the call was received. <minute> the minute the call was received. <apm> indicates if the time was AM or PM.

·To rewind the current message. If the message header is being played and this key is pressed the message header will stop and the actual message will begin playing. If this key is pressed while the message is playing the message will be rewound 20 percent.

·To forward the current message: Will fast forward the message by 20 percent.

·To hear the previous message: Will go to the previous message.

·To hear the next message: Will go to the next message.

·To permanently remove the message: Will delete the message.

·To clear but not delete a message: Will mark the message a heard but will not delete it.

Text Tab:
This is where you can modify the text used to present your voice and Email messages when you call in remotely to check your messages. When you click on a string a description of it will appear in the box below the list. To modify a string right click on it and select properties. This will bring up the Edit Text window. Some strings contain tags depicted by brackets <>. These tags will be replaced with some information specified by the tag name. You can remove or reposition tags within a string. If you don't want Call Soft to use one of the string simply erase it's content. Where the strings are actually used by Call Soft while checking messages is not shown here. Actually some strings may be used in more than one instance but you should be able to get a pretty good idea as to where they would be used.

Speak button: Select any string and click the Speak button to hear it.
Default button: Click this to set all strings to their default values.
