| Fax modem settings:
| · | Port:
| Call Soft needs to know the COM port your modem is using when receiving or sending a fax. In rare cases Call Soft may fail to do this on it's own and may need your assistance. If you click this button and Call Soft indicates it cannot get the port number, it will then show you a system dialog box that has the port number on it i.e. COM1, COM6 etc Take note of the number, click Of and then enter that number into Call Soft i.e. 1, 6 not COM1, COM6.
| · | Fax Class:
| The default for this property is Class 1, and most all fax modems will support this. If your particular modem will not support Class 1, or if you have some need to use one of the other settings, then you can change it here.
| · | Receive Fax Init String:
| If you have trouble receiving/Sending a fax (errors like "Timeout during send / receive", "No response to command" etc.), the problem is associated with your modem not being initialized correctly for flow control. Call Soft uses a default initialization string that will work with %90 of modems. However, some modems do not initialize correctly using this string thus another string is required. What this string is will vary from modem to modem. As of this writing we do not have any additional strings to provide you. However, check our Web site for updates or Email us asking for additional initialization strings.
| · | Send Fax Init String:
| You should only modify this if you have trouble sending faxes. This is the init string that is sent to your modem prior to sending a fax. The predefined list contains initialization strings for most modems. If you can't find your exact modem in the list then choose the closest one, the default or Hayes compatible.
| · | Reset Modem String:
| This is the command sent to your modem before the receive or send fax initialization string is sent. The purpose is to put the modem into it's default state e.g. factory defaults. The reason this is even an option is because we want the modem to go into it's default state prior to receiving a fax BUT not hang up. Sending the normal reset string of ATZ will cause some modems to hang up. Call Soft answers the phone and typically plays a greeting in TAPI mode but when it hears a fax tone it must switch to the "old fashion" method of talking directly to the modem. Since the call state is already connected we just want the modem to reset without hanging up.
| So what do I set it to?
| Use the default string of AT. This actually does nothing and assumes the modem is already in a proper state (most modems will be). If you constantly get an error when receiving a fax (no response to command, timeout etc.) try and set this string to AT&F. If you still have trouble set it to ATZ. If you still have trouble set it to AT&F1.

| · | Install/Reinstall Drivers button:
| Additional drivers, included with Call Soft, are required to send faxes. This is so you can fax from any application by simply printing to "Call Soft Fax". If the drivers are not installed the button's label will read "Install Drivers", in which case you will need to click it to install the send fax drivers. If the drivers are already installed the button's label will read "Reinstall Drivers". In this case you should only click it if you are having trouble sending faxes but reinstalling the drivers will not harm Call Soft or your system.

| How to view faxes:
| Call Soft saves all faxes as Tagged Image Files (.TIF). There are many applications that can read these files. This is where you choose which application to use.
| · | Use Call Soft's viewer:
| If checked, you will be able to view and print your faxes using an application shipped with Call Soft named faxprinter.exe.
| · | Use my Web Browser:
| Both Internet Explorer and Netscape can view .tif files. Check this if you want to use your Web browser to view your faxes. When using Internet Explorer and asked "What would you like to do with this file" select "Open this file from it's current location".
| · | Use associated application:
| You might already have a preferred application for viewing faxes. If so check this button.
| · | Use this application:
| If you know what application you want to use check this option and specify it's location in the space provided. By default, Call Soft will run the application and specify the fax file to be viewed on the command line.
| · | Use Call Soft's beta viewer.
| Check this to use Call Soft's internal fax viewer. Choosing this option will also give you the sability to view fax pages as they arrive.
| · | Advanced Users:
| If needed, you can specify where the fax file will be placed on the command line by using %1 . For example if you specify: "C:\Program Files\MyApplications\MyFaxViewer.exe -extraparam %1" as your application and say the fax file to be viewed is "c:\Program Files\Call Soft\Messages\fax1234.tif" ,when Call Soft runs this application it will pass "-extraparam c:\Program Files\Call Soft\Messages\fax1234.tif" as the command line to the application.

| Misc:
| · | Detect fax call automatically:
| If checked Call Soft will answer a call with a greeting, but if a fax tone is heard will begin receiving the fax. The ability to auto detect a fax may vary from modem to modem. If you don't want Call Soft to try and detect faxes ever don't check this button.
| · | Treat every call as a fax:.
| If checked Call Soft will only receive faxes and will answer the phone assuming a fax machine is on the other end thus never playing a greeting or recording a message.
| · | Automatically print faxes upon arrival:
| If check Call Soft will print every fax it receives to your default printer.
| · | Put all faxes into this mailbox:
| If you want all faxes to placed into a separate mailbox, select that mailbox here. Call Soft does not create a fax mailbox automatically for you but you might want to create one then choose it here.
