Caller ID Format
|
Previous Top Next |
| When your phone rings, Call Soft is given the caller's number (assuming you have caller ID) as a string of numbers, for example 7139611201. You can define how Call Soft interprets this. By default, Call Soft is setup to handle caller ID for the US. If you do not live in the US you might have to make modifications to the caller ID format.

| To define the format, click the "Caller ID Format" button on the "General" tab in setup. The window looks like this:

| Call soft recognizes three parts of a phone number. The a=Area code p=Prefix n=Number. In some countries the area code is only 2 digits but the number is 5 digits. To accommodate this scenario you would enter aa-ppp-nnnnn. So if 0249328328 calls, Call Soft will format the number 02-493-28328. In some countries the area code is really 3 digits long but if it starts with a 0 then the leading 0 is not given to Call Soft. For example the real phone number is 021-637-9433 but Call Soft only receives 21-637-9433. To fix the problem you would enter 0aa-ppp-nnnn for the caller ID format.

| Note: Call Soft will also recognize country codes. If you want country codes displayed use c in the format string. For example: cc-aaa-ppp-nnnn. The country code can only be displayed if it's given.
